D202 special olympic students walk with the torch and law enforcement on track
Drauden Point Middle School Special Olympics student athlete Jonathan Gandy walks the Olympic torch to its destination on May 4 to open the Region E Spring Games at South Holland. Members of law enforcement, coaches, and Lily Diversey, a sixth grade athlete from Ira Jones walk with Gandy. This is the first year the district has fielded a Special Olympics middle school team. Board of Education meeting Wednesday

The District 202 Board of Education will meet in regular session on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Administration Center, 15732 Howard St., Plainfield.

The board opens the meeting at 6:30 p.m. and then immediately goes into closed session until about 7:30 p.m.

Retired technology director honored

The District 202 Foundation for Excellence recently presented the 2023 Walter G. and Juanita F. Niehus Award to retired District 202 Technology Director Margie Bonuchi.

Bonuchi retired from District 202 in 2022 after 23 years of leading the Technology Department.

The Niehus Award honors certified or non-certified staff and support members who have shown extraordinary commitment to students, parents, and employees.

D202 rolls out autonomous mowers

District 202 will begin using four autonomous mowers this summer.

The mowers will be used at the four high schools to cut large fields.

This isn't the first time the district has used autonomous machines.

The district uses a machine to stripe the high school baseball fields.
