The District 202 Board of Education will meet in regular session at 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the District Administration Center, 15732 Howard St.
The board will go into closed session immediately and will return to open session at about 7:30 p.m.
District 202's Plainfield Parent Community Network will present this free program, “Building a Brighter Tomorrow Together: Resources You Need to Know About for Promoting Your Family’s Mental, Emotional, and Physical Well-being."
Doors will open at 6 p.m. with a resource fair and the program will start at 6:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
“It makes me feel proud to be recognized, but I truly see this as an award for our entire coaching staff,” Derks said.
“Coach Derks deserves this honor based on not only the success of the program, but also the dedication and commitment he has towards the student athletes,” PNHS Athletic Director Ron Lear said.
Each fall, the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS), which is the national affiliate of the IHSA, conducts a coach of the year program for all NFHS-sanctioned sports.
The Plainfield Foundation for Excellence will award multiple Horizon Grants totaling up to $5,000 to current high school juniors from District 202’s four high schools and Plainfield Academy, the district’s alternative high school. (Actual grant amounts will depend on applications and available revenue, but the total of all grants awarded will not exceed $5,000).
Grants are to be used for expenses related to a summer enrichment experience. This includes but is not limited to expenses such as: registration, travel, food/lodging, learning materials and supplies.
